INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES, FAMILY AND GROUP THERAPY
People often seek help when some aspect(s) of their life is no longer working the way they would like. They experience confusion or distress that can be emotional, psychological, physical or spiritual and may cause them to behave in ways that negatively affect them and/or those around them. Frequently people attempt to manage their issues on their own without achieving the desired outcome. Sometimes these attempts result in unhealthy habits or patterns that further impede their sense of well-being or cause more distress.
As a result of my training and experience I am able to effectively work with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples, family and group therapy. My approach is client-centered and solution-focused and is informed by psychodynamic, family/systems and cognitive-behavioral theories. I consider people and their difficulties as products of their family and other groups to which they have belonged. Although people may be unaware of the origins of their overall outlook, what they believe about themselves and others greatly influences their life experience. Given the specific personality, concerns and goals of my client, I select the most suitable techniques or interventions.
It is my job to provide an environment in which you feel respected and listened to without judgment. Through the rapport we develop, you achieve a deeper understanding of yourself and develop strategies that you can to apply to future challenges. Through our therapeutic relationship, we will clearly define the issues, identify what will be required to overcome your obstacles, practice new skills (e.g., to think, feel, behave) that will assist you in coping or resolving the issues, as well as establish and work towards realistic life goals.
